About us
Promoting health, investing in impact
Athensmed is a first‑generation, family owned investment firm and health‑sector specialist. Our ambitious approach goes beyond individual investments; we aim to reinvent how capital is allocated to health, wellbeing and impact. In the Athensmed group we work with both investments and active ownership in our subsidiaries.
Our investments are focused on health services and health technology solutions that deliver real and tangible benefits and have the potential for broader societal impact.
Three core values guide us:
Community
Real change and impact is achieved by working closely together with entrepreneurs, end‑users, customers and partners.
Responsibility
Effectiveness
We have a high ambition for both growth and impact, and this also unites us with our portfolio companies.
Impact‑driven investment strategy
Impact sits at the heart of our investment strategy. We identify structural gaps in healthcare and back solutions that improve accessibility and quality, promote health equality and are built on evidence‑based research and measurable outcomes.
Working alongside our portfolio companies, we promote tangable, impactful, responsible solutions. Our work has contributed to expanding pandemic vaccine coverage in several countries, improving the quality and availability of social services, and developing health‑tech that supports preventive care for vulnerable populations.
In 2026 we will deepen impact work and monitoring even further. We are currently developing a model for measuring and scaling social impact from an investor’s perspective. We believe true impact is achieved from a collaboration and clear action. Our portfolio companies and investor community are all welcome to join us.
Science, art and culture as a part of creating impact
Our impact work is not limited to investing. By deepening understanding of humanity and the constant quest for greater knowledge are essential. This is why we are actively involved in supporting science, art and culture in a variety of initiatives.
- We award grants for research into digital health services
- The majority of our health-tech investments are based on science‑driven R&D projects
- We approach science as learners and practitioners; following research with a scientist’s curiosity and updating our knowledge as new research emerges.
